Secret #5 Celebrate Your WINS In the Right Way

It takes courage to do something new.  It takes courage  to say I’m going to stop dieting, listen to my body and stop emotional eating.  Is that scary?  Yes..

Progress means nothing if you don’t celebrate it with your wins.  If you don’t notice the little things along the way, you won’t notice the big things.  

When you don’t acknowledge the little things along the way, you end up self sabotaging.

When I say celebrate your wins, I don’t mean go get a frappiccino and a cupcake. Go to a movie, get a manicure or pedicure, take a hot bath, buy a new book…Do something loving and nurturing for yourself.

If you don’t celebrate the little things, then nothing will be good enough.  You won’t see all the little things add up, you won’t see your success and you’ll want to give up.

So every little step is important.  Every little step creates a big achievement along your journey.



At the end of each day, acknowledge just one win.  Maybe you turned down the doughnut your boss brought into the office.  Any win big or little needs to be acknowledged.  There are times I need to celebrate only eating 2 donuts instead of the whole box.  If that’s where you’re at, CELEBRATE IT!!!


Are you ready for my last secret?

Secret #6:  Diets Don’t Work

This was seriously the most revolutionary piece of information that lead me to lose 70 lbs.  Diets only work because they’re based on shame, blame, fear, guilt, deprivation, self hatred and self loathing.  Right?

You can’t love yourself and put yourself on a diet.  Diets put you into a mindset where you fear self sabotage, falling off the wagon, or worse, feeling like a failure.  

Diets make you feel deprived and they put your body in a state of stress which forces your body to hold on to fat.  They screw up your hormones and causes harm to your body and metabolism.  The only thing a diet does is teach you to stop listening to your body and to start listening to the experts.  They teach you that you and your body can’t be trusted.  That you need them!

In reality if diets worked, we wouldn’t be here having this conversation.  The important thing to remember is that your self esteem has to match your dream.  

Let me ask you something:

  • Are you done hating your body?
  • Are you done with yo-yo dieting?
  • What brought you to read this blog?

My weight loss journey has really shown me some of these secrets that have changed my life.  And it’s really Something you can do in a relatively short amount of time.  The choice is up to you.  You can go on another diet, but if you’ve done it before and it didn’t work…. Well OK… What’s the definition of insanity?
