The Ripple Effect of your Health

What you do in life has impact. Same is true for your health and wellness; the ripple effect of your health.

The choices and decisions you lead in your life effects those around you.

I’m not here to make you feel guilty, but there’s a ripple effect of the choices you make in your health.  If you don’t’ take care of yourself, how do you take care of those we love?  We can’t!  I’ve tried and it doesn’t work.  I put everyone else first and didn’t’ take care of myself.  Them my body said, “What are you doing to me?  I can’t take the stress you’re putting me under.” I was gaining and losing weight, I was up and down and to the point where I was well over 250 lbs.  Yikes!  And that was after giving birth, not pregnant.  I was even heavier when I was pregnant with my youngest.

There’s a ripple effect with our health and the decisions that you make.  And it’s unfortunate because we don’t care because as women we’re nurturers.  We want to go out there and take care of everyone else, and that’s fabulous, but I’m telling you right now if you don’t start to take care of yourself, you’re going to wear down.  You’re going to become an old car.  You don’t want to become an old beat up, run down car.  You want to be healthy and vibrant and filled with joy.

This reminds me of when you are on an airplane and they give you the safety briefing.  When they instruct you as to how to use the flotation advice and all that, there’s one thing that always stands out to me and that’s when there’s a pressure problem and the oxygen mask drops.  What do they tell you? You’re instructed to put on your own mask first and then help others around you.

As a mom, I have to analyze this one.  Why?  Because I naturally want to help my kids first. The thought is “Seriously?  You want me to be selfish and put on my own oxygen mask before help my two boys?” That’s not common sense, that’s my mamma bear protection.  But I could be putting on his mask and I don’t have my mask on, I could not get his mask on and then pass out.  Then what good am I to my boys or myself?  I’m passed out.  I can’t do anything.

I need to put my mask on first as fast as I can and as quickly as I can.  Take care of me so I can love and take care of my children if need be.  Safety first.  Health first.  The ripple effect  affects everyone around us.

I just want my cupcakes.  I just want to do what I want to do when I want to do because I’ve earned it.  Because I can buy what I want when I want and eat what I want when I want.  I don’t want to exercise because I’ve worked all day and I just want to come home and sit and watch my shows.

If you are having any of those thoughts, you better think again.  I lived that life!  I had little kids at home with me.  But then something happened.  I had a tornado in life.  Something had to change.

What’s really going on with you and your health?  It could be something negative or it can be something positive.

You have to find balance and what’s going to work for you and your unique self.  So think about it… What are you doing now?  How are you taking care of your wellness?  Your fitness?  Your nutrition?  It’s not about you, but it starts with you.

So maybe you’ve you want a little direction when it comes to the ripple effect of your health.  So, what do you do?

Keep It Simple Strategy

Be the example!  The underlying message is purpose driven.  Why you do what you do.

  1. Take inventory.
  2. Lead with a purpose-driven plan.
  3. Take action.

What is the ripple effect of your health telling those around you?
