How many times have you made the decision to start a new diet?  How many times have you told yourself you aren’t giving up?  That, this time, you’re really going to make it work?  That you’re going to buckle down, grit your teeth, and use all your willpower to only eat foods that you know are good for you?

Do you start out strong for the first few days, then the weekend comes, or a big project gets added to your load at work, or your mother is coming for a visit.  Not only that, but you quickly realize that your days are full of thoughts about food–what you want to eat, what you shouldn’t eat, or when you’re going to eat next.  Each time you reach for food, it’s like you have to make a decision all over again.

If you have a bad day, all your old coping mechanisms come flooding to the surface and before you know it, you’re elbow deep in chocolate cake.  

On top of all that emotion, you have a never-ending flood of “experts” trying to tell you what the “right” answer is for losing weight and keeping it off for good.  

The Truth

Only you can decide what’s right for you, because the truth is that until you decide that something is going to work for you, nothing will.  Getting caught up in whether or not something is the “right” answer for you only keeps you stuck and miserable.  

In the end, it’s not so much about finding the right answer as much as it is finding the NEXT right step for you.
