From “Shy” to CONFIDENT

I’ve always considered myself as “shy,” but now I say I’m formerly shy. It may be cute for a little girl to be shy, but it’s not cute for an adult to be shy.

So today I attended an event with 200 people. None of whom I know. In the past, this would have been the most painful thing for me to do. I hated walking into a room full of people I didn’t know and having to get to know other people. It was terribly uncomfortable.

In fact, 3 months ago at this last Beachbody sponsored event, I told my coach, Natalie, that I wasn’t going to go. I had my “reasons” (aka excuses). I was, and still am, working on my transition and I just knew i was going to walk into a group of other coaches who were fit and lean and basically looking 100% better than I was. I was TERRIFIED of the workout we were going to do because I knew I’d be the only one in the room having to modify everything. In fact, the only reason I finally decided to go was because they decided not to have a workout.

TODAY, the scene was the same: 200 people, no one I knew, not one, but TWO exercises that I was completely unfamiliar with, and still needing to modify. The only difference was, I was EXCITED! I found that there are so many coaches inspiring others even while, just like me, still working on themselves. I found a group of people who were encouraging, having a blast and helping each other be successful.

I’ve made a lot of changes in my life over the past year, physically. What I didn’t expect was the CONFIDENCE I gained along my journey.

So today as I was literally in tears listening to the story of another coach, I was so thankful that Natalie picked up the phone and called me and asked me to join her as a coach. I would have missed out on a lot of personal development if she didn’t. But more importantly, I would have missed out on reconnecting with an old friend.
